Spindle accuracy inspection: robust precision solution
Spindles represent a key part of any machine tool. Periodic performance assessment is essential to maintain product quality as errors can develop over time. The Spindle Inspector enables fully automated spindle performance checks suitable for industrial environments that may be executed in a few minutes only.

For the 11th International Conference on High Speed Machining IBS Precision Engineering provided a paper on this subject, including comparison with the classical method of measuring spindle accuracy.

5-axis machine metrology: workshop success
In a joint effort Teclab and IBS organized a workshop that took place on September 24th on 5-axis machine tool accuracy and compensation, ISO standards & CAD CAM software. The day had an international character with participants from Japan, Korea, China, USA and Canada. This in addition to guest speaker Eric Marsh from Penn State University in the USA.

The seminar provided the participants with key knowledge and understanding on how to measure and improve their machine tool precision and ultimately improve product quality & reduce costs. The feedback was very positive with 93% of the delegates confirming it as valuable in their future acitivties. The combination of theory during the morning lectures, that took place in Eindhoven's PSV football stadium, and the hands-on sessions on machines at Teclab in the afternoon was also very popular with the delegates.

3D optical metrology: Ibs wins best presentation award
At the DSPE conference (by & for technologists, designers and architects in precision mechatronics) organized by the Dutch Society for Precision Engineering in September, IBS employee Ivo Hamersma won the “best presentation award” for his presentation on “Ultra-high Precision Metrology of 3D Surfaces with Wavelength Scanning Interferometry”.

During his presentation Ivo introduced the Wavelength Scanning Interferometer (WSI) for fast areal surface measurements of micro and nanoscale structures. An introduction to the WSI technology showing the benefits of the system was given, combined with measurement results.

The price was handed over by dr. ir. Marc Vermeulen, member of the DSPE Advisory Board.

contactless web handling: Latest application demo
On November 12 & 13, IBS will exhibit at the annual Precision Fair at Conference Center Koningshof in Veldhoven, the Netherlands. The Precision Fair has grown into one of the leading European events on precision technology.

IBS will exhibit with a unique application demo on contactless web handling, incorporating the latest ultra-precision and porous air bearing technologies.

Porous media have also been exploited by IBS in a novel contactless cleaning technology for roll-to-roll webs. This Narrow Gap Cleaning technology will be introduced on our booth.

You are welcome to visit us in booth 134.
